Minister – Rev Linda Driver M: 0437 708 183 Church Office: 8331 3914 E: email@example.com The daughter of migrants from Germany and Slovenia, Linda has always had a strong faith, having been formed in childhood through the Roman Catholic church. In her late teens she became involved in Uniting Technology (a group of “theatre” technicians, committed to serving the Church community by supporting their activities.) This led to participation in major events like NCYC and KCO as a stage hand and then stage manager. Not long after came an invitation to join a local Uniting Church bible study group. Listening in on an Easter Camp session where Rev Rod James was speaking, Linda had a profound experience of grace where she sensed that God was speaking directly to her, and she had a strong sense of love, forgiveness and acceptance. Involvement in Uniting Technology and the bible study were key to Linda’s growth as a young disciple and leader. Volunteering eventually led to employment as an event manager with the Uniting Church, coordinating major events like KCO, SAYCO and Synod meetings. A sense of being ‘unsettled’ and a ‘tap on the shoulder’ led to doing a Period of Discernment which affirmed a call to ministry. Linda is now a candidate for the minister of the Word and is continuing her study and preparation for ordination part-time while serving in this ministry placement. She loves God, her husband, her family, and bringing smiles to people’s faces as they discover the joy and potential they have through life in Christ. (She also loves bubbles, butterflies, elephants, rainbows…) Linda has been commissioned as a Pastor in this ministry placement at Burnside City UC, alongside Rev Matthew Bond, the ministry team leader. Her particular ministry focus is on ministry with people in their first third of life.
Linda is available Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday mornings.
Minister in Association – Rev Rob Williams M: 0424 123 171 Church Office: 8331 3914 E: firstname.lastname@example.org Rob was ordained as a Minister of the Word in January 1980 after working for 9½ years in the banking sector and studying for 6 years at Parkin Wesley Theological College, Adelaide. After ordination he served the Uniting Church in 4 rural/regional and 2 Adelaide suburban congregations. He was Team Leader at Burnside City prior to being installed as Moderator of the Synod of South Australia in 2010, from which position he retired in 2013. Rob is a pastor, preacher and teacher. Through the use of these gifts, he encourages people to realise their uniqueness in Christ and what this may mean in their daily lives. Rob has a passion for Christians to fulfill Jesus’ prayer ‘that they may be one’. To this end he serves the wider church on the General Council and Executive of the SA Council of Churches of which the Uniting Church is a member. Rob is married to Colette. They have three adult sons and two grandchildren. Rob provides pastoral care one day a week for the senior members of our congregation and preaches one Sunday a month, usually in the Classic Service.
Youth Coordinator – Ben Randall Church Office: 8331 3914 E: email@example.com I grew up attending a Uniting church near home with my mum and older brother and younger sister, attending kids club and youth before drifting from the church in my early 20’s. I spent nearly 10 years without a home church and rarely attended any form of church. Towards the end of that time I was looking for a church to return to and was asked to assist with a church play at Burnside City, at which point I felt called to return to church and start worshipping at Burnside City at the start of 2012. I was asked to join the youth leadership team soon after and very quickly formed a good bond with the youth and other leaders. Feeling called to take my leadership further I stepped into the role of coordinator when it was vacated the following year. Since then I have added different aspects to the way youth runs with study groups, combined youth & junior church events and started a youth camp. I have a great passion for youth and enjoy running the events for them. I feel that the fellowship within the group is important and strive to keep the group well connected with each other, the leaders and the wider church community.
My involvement with youth has also seen my meet my now wife Sarah who was a fellow youth leader when I started. Her passion for youth ministry and the work I do with the youth has been a huge encouragement for me and sees me always reaching for new heights and keeping my grounded and focused through the tough times that come with youth ministry.
Outside of church I am involved in a family business running a small independent hardware store. We have been in business for over 10 years and have grown the business much in that time. I am part of a close knit family with an older brother and a younger sister, and am the proud uncle to children of my siblings.
Responsibilities Youth Ministry, Junior Church Youth, SAYCO.
