Presbytery Information Forum
Wednesday Nov. 20th, 7pm @ BCUC
In preparation for the congregation to decide at the Nov 24th AGM whether we will join Generate Presbytery or remain in the default, regional presbytery, we will host an information forum with special guests: Rev. Steph Tai (Secretary of Generate) and Rev. Sue Page (Assoc. Gen. Secretary from the presbytery restructuring task group). They will be available for a Q and A.

Membership
Starting next week, the whole of BCUC will be having a 3-week membership course as part of the Sunday sermons. We finish on November 10 with a membership celebration service where we will celebrate those who reaffirm, transfer, or become BCUC members. We will also hear about our vision launch as we look into where in God’s name we will be going at BCUC over the next three years. Talk to the ministers or Stuart to find out more.

Pastoral Contact Tea
This is a reminder to the more than 60 BCUC Pastoral Contacts and also an invitation to anyone interesting in finding out more about this important role. You are invited to a “Thank God you’re here!” afternoon tea and Pastoral Contact workshop. Sunday October 20th, 2:30pm at BCUC. Benji will run a workshop on “Confident Caring”. He will use biblical examples in a fun, interactive and informative way to build our confidence to pastorally care for the children of God. We encourage you to attend. On Monday twenty five people aged between three and eighty three enjoyed a Walk on Country learning more about the Kaurna people of the Adelaide Plains and visiting sites from Eden Hills to Port Noarlunga. Many thanks BCUC Cares. A memorable day.

Saturday October 19th “Quire St Nicolas” will present a mixed music programme.  7-15 for a 7-30pm start. Basket supper. Visitors welcome. Also…an advance notice for the Club Christmas dinner on November 16, 6:30pm. Cost : $35 payable to Peter Foord. Tickets available at October meeting. The theme is Bells.

Monday Day Fellowship

Money Raised for Frontier Services
Thank you to everybody who supported the Frontier Services fund raiser on Sunday 29th September. As a result of the retiring offering and the sausage sizzle a total of $1.070.30 has been forwarded to Frontier Services.

Frontier Services Sausage Sizzle
We will be having a sausage sizzle  on Sunday September 29 at 10:00am to support Frontier Services in their work to help Aussie Farmers who are doing it tough this year. From flooding in Northern Queensland, to bush fires down in Tasmania, and drought gripping over 50% of the country, some farmers say it’s the worst weather conditions they’ve experienced in their lifetime. These recent natural disasters have had a devastating effect on many living on isolated properties around our country. 

Operation Christmas Child
This year’s shoebox project is underway – an exciting time of the year! Shoeboxes of small gifts are packed here at BCUC and sent to children in developing countries. Brochures are available in the foyer along with empty decorated boxes if you wish to pack your own box. Alternatively there is an opportunity to make a monetary donation. If you like to shop, we need tennis balls, skipping ropes and yoyos to name a few items. Packing day is on Monday Sept 30th at 9.30am in the Hall.  Enquiries to Di Croft.

Have you been baptised? Baptism is a really important step of faith in becoming a new person in Christ, a child of God. Please see Benji or Rob for a chat. In November we will be having a membership service. One of the main requirements for membership is baptism.

BCUC’s Walk on Country #1
If you would like to learn about the traditions and experiences of the original inhabitants of the Adelaide Plains, the Kaurna people, join us on Monday 7th October (Labour Day Public Holiday) for a bus and walking tour of five significant sites south of Adelaide, led by Uncle Frank Wanganeen, a Christian Kaurna man. Next week David Houston a retired minister from Tusmore Park days will be sharing morning tea and have some involvement in the 10:30 classic service.

We believe there is some amazing talent in BCUC and would love to give the opportunity for the congregation to contribute their own Psalms to a booklet we will publish as a Christmas gift to all. We would love to see your contributions.   Use these notes to get ideas and learn techniques for writing your psalm.

“So Glad You’re Here” Afternoon Tea
We love welcoming people to the BCUC family.  If you are new here or have not come to a welcome afternoon tea yet, then this event is for you. You are warmly invited to the “So Glad You’re Here” Afternoon Tea on Saturday August 24 from 2-3:30pm. It’s a great chance to meet others, make friends, ask questions and get to know each other more. We see BCUC as a place for many people to call home and grow in Jesus. God makes truly amazing, unique people and we’re so glad to start to know one more.  RSVP to the office if you plan to attend. Monday Day Fellowship

Our Fellowship is hosting a Community Concern Event supporting the Sammy Di Foundation which is educating both parents and children on the impact of violence and how it may be prevented. A donation of $5 is asked in support of this appeal. All members are encouraged to attend and the congregation is most welcome. Afternoon tea will be supplied and has been organised by the committee.

Combined Churches Prayer Breakfast
At BCUC, Saturday August 3 from 7.30am to 9am.  You are warmly invited to attend. A light breakfast will be provided. The Prayer Breakfasts include great times of fellowship, worship and intercession. Praying for our PCWs, our school communities, our churches, our district and the nation.
