Craft, Chat & Sew

We have an average of 15 members attending each Thursday morning at 10am during school terms; we each undertake different types of craft activities. Members provide advice to others regarding their different skills and interests. Some are good at knitting and crochet, others make jewellery and others beautiful embroidery, some people are happy just to chat and enjoy the social side. We always share a delicious morning tea provided by different members. Last year we made about 60 beaded bangles for the Samaritan Purse boxes, the ladies really enjoyed making them. We knitted 12 rugs which were donated to the Uniting Church, Byron Place Centre for the homeless; we also donated $200 to them. When attending the centre to donate the goods and the money, we received a delighted thank you from some of the people who visit daily for assistance; they were quite emotional and thrilled. Donations of $200 were given to The Royal Flying Doctor Service and $200 to Frontier Services. A further donation of $100 was given to the Junior Church to purchase bibles. We would be delighted to encourage new members to join us as the group is very supportive to each member and we enjoy a great time together. Maureen Williams – Coordinator
