for the Week of May 5th

Surprise the World! The Five Habits of Highly Missional People
TODAY we will be starting a sermon series based on Michael Frost’s book ‘Surprise the Word!’. The book simplifies the way of Jesus for our world today and teaches how to share our faith in surprisingly simple ways. We are also promoting a church-wide small group study based on this book. Please sign up in the foyer after the service to join a discussion group, and pick up a copy of the discussion guide for this study. The book can also be purchased there at a cost of $10.

Community Fete
BCUC Junior Church will be holding a Community Fete on Sunday May 26 and we would really appreciate your support in our effort to raise funds for  Backpacks 4 SA Kids.  You can help by taking part in the car boot sale, baking and selling goods, volunteering, donating raffle prizes, or inviting friends for a fun afternoon.  More details can be found in the flyer available in the foyer.

Seniors Second Sunday Lunch
Cancelled on May 12 for Mother’s Day.

Mothers’ Day Gift Wrapping
On Wednesday May 8 at 1.30pm the Women’s Ministry group will be gift wrapping for Mothers’ Day. There will be approximately 100 gifts for residents of  Estia and Clayton Church Home aged care facilities. Please bring wrapping paper and ribbons.  New, donated items can be left at reception for Di or Jocelyn before the 8th. Included items: socks, bed socks, shower caps, soap, coat hangers, combs, note pads & pens, pocket tissues, playing cards, hand cream, magnets, small vases.  The afternoon will conclude with afternoon tea.

Police Checks
All regular volunteers at BCUC need to have completed a nationally coordinated criminal history check.   A form for this is available TODAY in the foyer at the “Surprise the World” table.  After receiving your clearance, it is important to provide a copy to Stuart for our records. Note that your clearance expires after three years.  Currently 59 volunteers and employees have valid clearances and 23 have expired clearances.  If your clearance has expired, or if you have not yet obtained one, please pick up the form today.  If  we don’t have a copy of your clearance please email or deliver  one to Stuart in the office or on any Sunday.
